This past Saturday the Girlfriend and I made our way to the Washington DC Auto Show. Going to the auto show has always been a monumental experience for me. Being up close and personal with all the greatest machines the auto industry has to offer. What could be better? In honor, I will share with you the best pics and cars from the show. Or at least those that I was able to photograph without too many people in the way. The first couple will be my sensible picks, if you must skip the boring stuff the dream machines are a bit further down. Nonetheless a big thank you for stopping in. Enjoy!
2015 Volvo XC 90
Without question the most comfortable car at the show. I’m 6’5 and a bit on the heftier side of the scale, no problem for this Swede. This car was the most accommodating and offered tremendous front leg room. The updated style is fantastic, a bit futuristic in the front and more traditional XC 90 in the rear. Being a Volvo there is an abundance of safety features and goodies. Such as, City Safety automatic braking function—which can halt or slow the car to mitigate forward collisions—is standard equipment and can now detect bicyclists and pedestrians in addition to cars, day or night. The big news is an available 400hp from a brand new hybrid set up allowing you to get the kids to soccer practice with plenty of time to spare. Safety, comfort and performance make this the ideal vehicle of choice for a family.
2015 Jeep Renegade
The best entry 4×4 to hit the scene with out a doubt the instantly recognizable Jeep styling is fantastic. Especially when compared to its main rivals the Nissan Puke, I’m sorry that’s Juke and the soulless/uninspiring Chevy Trax. Backing up its tough appearance are two different 4×4 systems, one for light duty, and the other is a hardcore trail blazing and mud spitting in the Trail Rated “Trailhawk” trim. You’ll be able to stay out and play much longer now that the 1.6 turbo four and a 9 speed automatic will be fitted, allowing for 30MPG, from and SUV!
2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat
The 707hp supercharged HEMI monster is relatively subtle in appearance. However, the wider body, pumped up wheel arches, and huge Brembos hiding behind the massive wheels are all suggestive clues, that this is the fastest sedan production sedan in the world.
2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S
The name “Benz” is outta here! That’s because most of the work that was done to develop this car was done by the mad scientists at AMG . Classic 50’s design cues include tear drop shape and sculpted rear end, and are apart of the newest rendition of the top dog Mercedes sports car. No more gull-wing doors, like on the outgoing SLS but what you do get is a twin-turbo V8 good for 503hp, promising to make you forget all about those outrageous doors.
2016 Cadillac CTS-V
The “V” stands for velocity, or maybe not, Cadillac hasn’t really said what it stands for or, if it stands for anything at all. Velocity would certainly fit the description for this sedan with its Corvette sourced power plant it makes a lot of it. Producing 640 ponies at 6400 rpm and 630 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm, the blown V-8 is so powerful that it’s almost unsurprising that the new V sedan can hit 60 mph in a claimed 3.7 seconds. And with magnetic ride control this thing eats up corners like a fat kid does cake. If the above mentioned Charger is compared to a hellcat this Caddy is a cheetah on roids. Stupid fast yet crazy nimble.
2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 roadster.
A first for the ZO6, it is now offered in a convertible and an automatic. The Corvette loyal will cry blasphemy but this topless beauty isn’t hearing any of it. Helping to silence the critics is the roar from its 650hp blown V8, that hurls the car to 60 in under 3 seconds. Giant discs and pads help control the fun and bring it to a halt in less than 100 feet from 60MPH. MURICA in motion.
The following cars really need no intro or description so I’ll just upload the pics and will remain silent to give you guys a few minutes to drool freely.
